Design Engineer - Pipelines

Summary
Looking for the challenge and opportunity of a consultancy role but with the security of long-term projects? Want to develop your professional career closer to home? If so, with have a unique opportunity for a Design Engineer to join our water supply design team!

What will I be doing?
You will be located at our Yeovil Design Office, and this role will focus on complex water supply pipeline detailed design and planning, including sequencing.

You will be responsible for the full design lifecycle including scoping of works with internal customers, ascertaining constructability and design efficiency, working closely with both our in-house and external contractors. You will produce and present project approval reports and documentation.

You’ll provide guidance to our CAD technicians to enable production of detailed project drawings to national and internal standards and specifications.

Of course, you will ensure compliance with our internal processes and with legislation including Health and Safety, Hygiene Codes, Land Entry Codes and the Environmental and Wessex Water Customer Charter.

You’ll liaise with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders during all project stages to ensure successful project implementation, including meetings with landowners, regulators and monitoring works progress with our site teams.

What are the requirements?
To do all of this, you must have a minimum of (or be working towards) an HNC in Civil Engineering with a good level of water supply pipeline detailed design experience.

You’ll be an effective communicator at all levels of the business and have excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all of your work.

You will be working independently, so you must have drive and self-motivation as well as the organisational skills to work efficiently to tight timescales. A full driving licence is required to undertake the role.
