Westbury and Warminster Youth Club, Wiltshire

We visited the busy Westbury and Warminster Youth Club to talk to Senior Youth Leader Beth Mullions to learn about the important role it plays in the local community.

Tell us about the youth club

Set up in Westbury in 2017 and Warminster in 2019, there are now around 50 regular members at Westbury and 25 at Warminster.

Young people from ages 11 to 19 (or 25 for those with special educational needs) are all welcome to attend.

Activities include low-level sports, informal education, cooking, baking, arts and crafts, alongside activities in the community such as graffiti respraying, the Westbury White Horse Soapbox Derby and outdoor activity days.

How will our grant help?

Cuts in public services have seen many youth clubs disappear, so the £4,000 from the Community Fund will go towards our running costs.

Why is this club important to young people?

The club is important to young people as it is low cost, accessible for everyone and gives young people somewhere to learn new skills and hang out in a safe environment.

It also offers them support which they can’t access from other organisations.

The biggest reason why the club is important to young people is that it helps and supports their mental health and helps them navigate through life.
