Fishing events

We hold a range of fishing activities and lessons for both beginners and experienced anglers.


Carp on the fly

Try your hand at fly fishing for carp and experiment with margin and deeper-water fishing using natural imitations and floating bread flies. Make sure you are prepared for explosive runs in shallow water and long slow fights in deeper areas.

Date, time and location

This exciting alternative to trout fishing will run from Monday 17 June to Sunday 13 October at our Sutton Bingham Reservoir. Both day and evening sessions are available.

Prices

All prices include a two trout bag limit plus, catch and release on carp all day.

  • Beginner tickets – £10
  • Concession tickets – £17.50

Normal boat fees apply.

Rules

  • All normal fishery rules apply.
  • Only fly-fishing techniques can be used.
  • Any carp or other coarse species should be returned unharmed.
  • Only barbless hooks should be used.
  • We request the use of an unhooking mat wherever possible.
  • All trout must be recorded on the catch return.
  • Carp catches do not need to be recorded.

Carp on the fly - Tuition

Our two-hour introductory sessions are aimed at helping anglers adapt their tactics and tackle choices to target carp. Hosted by our qualified instructors, these sessions include a ‘2 Fish Day Ticket’ and equipment.

Date, time and location

Each lesson will take place at our Sutton Bingham Reservoir on the following dates and times and led by one of our qualified instructors:

  • Thursday 20 June: 9am to 11am and 12pm to 2pm
  • Friday 21 June: 9am to 11am and 12pm to 2pm
  • Wednesday 26 June: 1pm to 3pm and 4pm to 6pm
  • Wednesday 10 July: 1pm to 3pm and 4pm to 6pm

Price

All prices include a two trout bag limit plus, catch and release on carp all day.

  • Tuition - £30 for a two-hour (non-exclusive) session.

Improver fishing sessions (methods and depths)

Learn skills and techniques that will ensure you continue catching fish towards the end of the season.

We will also teach you about fly life, how different fly lines and flies work, how they present themselves through the water column, and what time of year to expect certain food sources.

A maximum of two people can take part in a session.

Date, time and location

The sessions will take place on:

  • Monday 30 September at Clatworthy
  • Thursday 3 October at Hawkridge
  • Monday 7 October at Clatworthy
  • Thursday 10 October at Hawkridge

Each lesson will run from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.
